Mission

A good friend once said to me: "If a door opens in front of you - get off your ass and dance through it...laughing."

I'm trying, Nancy!

I'm back

Had a little discussion with myself about whether or not to continue blogging, and decided what the heck...
If nothing else, it serves as a memory aid when I need to know when or where something happened, and frankly, I need all the help I can get in that department.
It also makes me take photos, and taking photos makes me notice things that I wouldn't ordinarily notice.
It also justifies the new camera that I bought for myself.

This is the Canon SX260 HS

I spent a week in Hawaii, lugging around my gigantic Canon Rebel with the honkin' big 18-270 lens and I hated it.  I was totally uninspired to take photos because it was just too much trouble to dig it out of my bag.  I'd read about this new one before I went to Maui, and I thought I could just go down to my local camera store and pick one up to take on holidays with me.  Nope, didn't work.  It was too new, and nobody had it in stock yet.  I think that's why I didn't enjoy the big camera - I had my heart set on taking this new one with me, and I couldn't.
This baby has almost twice the zoom of my big camera  (500mm!) and it fits in my pocket!
It's also a pretty colour, but of course that doesn't matter to me at all :)

My first coupla weeks back at work were brutal!  Two 5-day weeks, and I was by myself for one of them.   Had a few re-entry problems.  Just minor things like, y'know, forgetting how to do a cheque run...that messed up a couple of days right there.
Anyway, I'm back to the regular 3 days a week now, so this was my first mid-week break.

I've had a pretty productive day today.
I've been baking since early morning and the house smells wonderful!
I made Feta/ricotta/spinach rolls that don't exactly look like the picture on the recipe, but they are delicious!

I made 2 apple pies (sin canela)

and I had some pastry left over, so I made a few cheese scones too.

Mmmm...mmmm!!!

I had planned on making shrimp enchiladas for dinner, but I'm thinking Chinese take-out sounds pretty good instead.  I've had enough cooking for one day.

Anyway, welcome back to DTL.  I'm enjoying spring this year more than ever.  Things are just starting to green up and bud out.  I love it!

Holy pastry!! That all looks incredibly good. Our oven is almost at the no-use point as the weather warms up, I have to pick a cool day to cook the ham we bought in Ajo.

I am going to investigate that camera, it looks like just the thing! Although it will be a few years before I can buy another one, first I have to wreck the one I have. ;)

I'm looking forward to trying a few underwater shots soon though.

Welcome back!

Hey, welcome back, we missed you.

Nice scoff, you got there.
I'll take two from column A, two from column C and... LOOK OVER THERE! IS THAT A SPIDER?

Yes, I've been checking the temperatures in Puerto Peñasco - too hot for me!
I'm enjoying the camera - just the right size to tuck into my (tiny) purse. I can't wait to see what your underwater camera can do.

Carl - :)
