Mission

A good friend once said to me: "If a door opens in front of you - get off your ass and dance through it...laughing."

I'm trying, Nancy!

Bye for now

I know, it wasn't much of a blog this summer - that working full time gig really cramped my style.
Anyway, I'm back over at Mexican Madness for the winter, and I'm really stoked about it. See you there!

Thanks for stopping by.

A whale of a tale

It started out as a tiny little bubble in the paint. When I cleaned the tub, the bubble broke and we had a tiny little hole in the white paint, through which, the old turquoise showed through. Then I might have picked at it a little bit.
Okay, maybe more than a little bit, but I can't help myself, it's just SO satisfying to peel a big chunk off in one piece!

Look, I made a whale!

After Dan made the appointment to have it reglazed, I really went to town, and the baby whale grew even bigger. No pictures, but I managed to pick away so much paint, that the guy didn't charge us the $150.00 that he usually tacks on for removing the old stuff. You're welcome, Dan.

It's all shiny and new looking again now, though.

The guy made a fairly significant booboo, but he won't be able to get back to fix it until September. Really! Oh well, whaddya gonna do? At least it's all one colour again.

Dan & I spent the day being tourists in our own town today. We wandered around downtown for a couple of hours, and quite enjoyed ourselves.

We weren't alone either, there were lots of people out enjoying the sunshine and the sidewalk cafés.

It's still a nice night, so we're off for another dog walk in the local park.

Thanks for stopping by.

A non post

Not really a post, just kinda popping in to say hello. Not much happening in my life right now. This working full time schtick doesn't leave much time for anything else.

I work in a 2 person A/P department for a government agency, and it's been a very steep learning curve for this old brain of mine. Sure, A/P is A/P, but the environment is different, the software is different, the procedures are different, the pace, the people, the terms, the paperwork...all VERY different!

I'm number 3 in a string of temps replacing someone who has been on sick leave for almost a year, so my co-worker is understandably a little stressed, but she's not nearly as stressed as I'm going to be next week. Y'see, she's going on vacation. For five weeks! Leaving me in charge of training another temp, and running the department!

She's leaving on Thursday, and I have a nervous breakdown scheduled for Friday afternoon!

By the time she returns at the end of August, I'll either be totally proficient, or institutionalized. One of those. Most likely the latter.

So if you don't hear from me for awhile, it's because I'm probably in a corner somewhere, whimpering. Or maybe drinking myself into a coma.

Our good neighbours across the alley have decided to shake up their lives a little. They've sold their house, and are moving to Nova Scotia to run a little general store in the middle of nowhere. At first I thought they were crazy, but now I'm thinking of stowing away in their trailer.
Anyway, they had a moving sale on the weekend, and among other things, I picked up these cool bottles.

And Dan got his eye on this card game set, which will be making it's way to Mexico.

That's all for now, I have to get back to studying my notes so I can produce a cheque run by myself. Gulp.
Send chocolate!

Ahhh, it's good to be back home again after that brief fling with Turquoise, travels and tea.. It was fun for awhile, I was swept away with the pretty colour, and the fancy Italic font, but it never really felt right to me. So I'm back here at comfy old DTL.

So, what's new? Well, I have a new job that's really cutting in to my leisure time. It's been a lot of years since I've worked full time. Who the hell thought working 5 days and only getting 2 off was a good idea? That's crazy! (Although, my bank account is happy about it :-) Luckily, it's just a temporary gig for me, and knowing that, I can handle it. My assignment should last right up until we leave for Mexico in the fall though, so that's pretty cool. The commute is ideal, it takes about 7 minutes door-to-door, and I only have to fill my gas tank up about once a month! Gotta love that!

I'm still doing the photo-a-day challenge that I started on January 1st. I know - more than six months and I haven't missed a single day! Remember, my previous attempt at this challenge lasted a whole 3 days, so this is huge for me! If you're not on Instagram, there's a link to my gallery on the right hand side of this blog. It worked when I tested it, but that might be because I'm trying to access my own account. Let me know if it doesn't work for you.

I've been out of blogging mode for a long time (as some of you have repeatedly reminded me), and I've missed it, but now that I've decided to ditch the T3 blog, I feel a lot better about it. It's good to be back here at DTL, and I plan on continuing until it's time to switch back to Mexican Madness in the fall.

And apropos of nothing, just because I don't like posts without photos, here are a couple of shots from the pipcamera app.

After I'd stuffed a few bizarre things in milk bottles, (it's a fun app) Dan said I should put a cow in a bottle, so I did.

Yeah, didn't turn out quite as I'd envisioned it, but if you'd seen how much trouble I had doing it, you'd appreciate it more.

Thanks for stopping by.
